Hi everyone,

A reminder of some important happenings...

May 15th, 7pm at Henry Grube:  THE EDGE, a presentation given to grade 6 students by the RCMP/Kamloops Blazers about Drug Use in the downtown Eastside.  We will have the constable who does the program for SD73 Grade 6 students show parents this presentation before our regular DPAC Meeting and AGM next Tuesday.  All parents welcome to attend to see the presentation that your child saw/may see in Grade 6!  No pre-registration or fee required to attend, as all parents are always welcome to attend any/all DPAC General Meetings.

May 16, 6pm:  Askable Adult at Henry Grube.  Back by popular demand!!!!!  Come learn how to "not get weird" when your kid starts to ask questions about sex and sexuality.  Kindergarten to grade 12 parents/guardians/trusted adults welcome!  No pre-registration required, no fee involved!  A partnership between DPAC and SD73.

May 17, 6pm:  Mental Health Literacy Workshop for Parents at the Henry Grube Education Centre.   The workshop will include:  An introduction to talking about mental health and youth story.  Background information and data on youth mental health.  Exploration of the Stop Wondering, Start Knowing Video Resource.  Resources for supporting students experiencing mental health challenges.  Strategies for promoting overall wellness. Join facilitators from the Health Literacy Team and the Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre at BC Children’s Hospital for an informational workshop on supporting youth mental wellness. The focus will be on wellness promotion, prevention, recognizing early signs and connecting early to services. Please note clinical content on specific challenges will not be specifically addressed. The workshop aims to share health promotion information and make connection to local resources and services. Intended Audience: Parents / Guardians and Service Providers

Also happening (albeit less exciting)...
